6 Person Cooling System

It's summer and Polar is busy! Shannon (and future baby Liam) just finished building a 6 person CoolFlow active cooling system for a Nevada fire department. Behind her is our Active Therapy Systems ready to be boxed and shipped. 

The Emergency First Responder Rehab Cooling Unit is quick to set up and may be used anywhere First Responders are exposed to intense heat or are at risk for heat fatigue and heat-related illness. The cooling rehab system circulates ice cold water from a cooling reservoir to 1 to 6 lightweight individual cooling vests. This effective system cools responders during breaks or after action significantly faster than they can regulate an elevated core temperature on their own.

Why does the Active Ice® have a timer?

"My wife recently dislocated and broke her shoulder, a very painful event and recovery. Over the holidays we were able to get very firsthand experience using the Active Ice® System.

First and foremost… it works great! The painkillers she was prescribed helped, but only up to a point, and the Active Ice® cold therapy got her through the time period for the next dose. A lifesaver for sure!

The timer allowed only 30 minute sessions before it required resetting. This allowed her to check her skin before her next session (resetting the timer is an easy thing to do with the Active Ice® System sitting on a small stool right beside her). Several times she decided to wait before resetting the timer because her skin was so cold.

We've made some significant and exciting improvements to our best-selling Active Ice® Cold Therapy System.

• Improved insulation on all water lines to eliminate condensation at the control box. (Condensation can sometimes be mistaken for a leak.) 
• Improved instructions and fill line sticker to help eliminate confusion and overfilling with water. (Overfilling the reservoir causes many issues.)
• Redesigned interior to eliminate any chance of water leakage when directions are followed.
• New pump motor which is more consistently quiet and operates at a low hum.

The sticker below is strategically placed on the inside of the cooling reservoir. Some customers have experienced various problems (ex: reduced cooling time) as a result of overfilling the cooler with water. It's important to fill the cooler to the top with ice first, before adding water to the fill line.

PHYSICS 101: Did you know that using too much water will cause the ice to melt more quickly? Using less water (and larger blocks of ice!) will allow the ice to stay frozen longer and help keep the water at a comfortable, cool temperature.
